Where is hosepipe ban map

Hi please help I live in Wisbech Cambs I know there is a hosepipe ban here but I have a dog who does his bussiness on my patio can I use a jet wash to clean it as I have two little children. I noted that in response to a previous question regarding the filling of Hot Tubs during this hosepipe ban you replied that this was not allowed.

Our earlier answers were based on rules at the time. Can you tell me please if I can still use my hosepipe at my allotment site to water my veg. I am in paignton , devon. Allotments are not exempt from hosepipe bans this year. My neighbour opposite waters his front garden most days with a hosepipe in broad daylight! I told him he shouldnt be and he laughed! Do u need photographic proof to report someone? Simply report them to your local water company if you want to.

Just to confirm that I an use a pressure washer running from a waterbutt not connected to a mains water supply? For instance, rainwater or recycled house water is OK. Thank you for the response, so I could run a bath without any added bubble-bath etc, have my bath then fill my water-butt from that?

Ive filled up my water butt and my recycling bin with water from my hose and now am using this to water my lovely garden with a watering can as i live in a first floor maisonette and to run up and down stairs with a can would finish me off and am not prepared to let my plants die as they have cost me a fortune in money and blood sweat and tears over the last three years i dont see a problem doing it this way…any thoughts on this???

You can throw buckets of water onto a car to wash it which is a huge waste, but you are not allowed to use water saving efficient hose triggers? Would they I need permission before doing so or would they just need to explain to whatever officer were to visit following a complaint?

Is it me or is this just too confusing, why do we not just have a simple map showing where is banned and not? Most have a postcode checking facility available.

Water is as important as Heat, Light, Food and Air, without which we would all demise……………. Amen xx. I would just like to show my appreciation to Shaun for the laugh I have just had reading the comments. I never thought that reading comments about a hosepipe ban could be so entertaining.

Many thanks. Is you can White? My dad lives with us and has a Blud Badge under the disability scheme — are we therefore allowed to use the hosepipe duing the ban if needed? I know it may sound obvious, but I wondered what happened to the water when you had a bath in it which meant that it was no longer subject to the restrictions on using a hose. DEFRA confirmed that you could pump water out of a bath through a hose and use it on the garden. They said that this was because the water was no longer as supplied by the water undertaker.

It seems to me that anyone who has a water softener can use a hose to water his garden with softened water because it is no longer the water supplied by the undertaker but is a different substance.

Aggressive hosepipe questioning!? Thanks, Hose. Shaun — had you asked a straightforward question e.

Good luck with your business has to be a charm school? Is there a hosepipe ban in Blackpool? Well I will be still using my hose as normal washing my car ect as ti be fair it is a load of political bullshit to be fair.

Or is it still in place? There is no information anywhere, just the south. Can i use the pressure washer to clean my patio where my dogs go to the toilet. Also the surface area is slippery and unsafe so will need to be cleaned properly. This is a 10 min job tops with a pressure washer. What if someone needed to use a water sprinkler and cant use a hose like my garden its all dried up and needs to be watered up.

Hi, I have a small decked area in my garden which is so slippery it is like ice. To jet wash it it would take about 20 mins and would make the surface safe to walk on. Is this ok to do? Is there still a hosepipe ban?! Theres no way there should be. Its been raining non stop for the past two weeks!!! Can we have an update on the water reserve as it has been raining nearly constantly since the ban was introduce. Hi, my hosepipe is only 3 inches long.

Am I still allowed to use it? Hi there, Can i use a hosepipe with a trigger to wet my car then rinse off the soap suds after washing with a bucket. This is using no more water than throwing a bucket of water over the car to do the same job?

What I am doing Paul is using a large watering can to wet the car down and again to rinse off after using the shampoo. This gives much more control than lobbing water bombs at the car for rinsing especially.

I have 5 horses, am i alloud to bath them. We do not have a water supply at our yard, can we bring them home and use the hosepipe to clean them as they get very muddy a scurffy. Yes but you need to check for your individual water company and make sure they have no other restrictions on top. We have abowls green that is used for surrey competitions are we allowed to use the spinkler system we have inplace allready.

The The Water Use Temporary Bans Order , excludes at section 4 3 e the watering of plants which are in an outdoor pot or in the ground, under cover. Difficult piece of legislation to interpret. The section you mention is purely part of the definition of a garden and a pot is not something defined as a garden.

However, section 6 1 a includes pots in its definition of plants that cannot be watered. It is of course up to your local water company if they do or do not include every item in the list of possible banned uses. I still continue to use a hosepipe to wash my dogs feaces off of our patio as we have small children and it could be very harmful if they were to somehow ingest anything that I failed to clean up with a bucket.

I have horses in a field that has no water supply. I normally would fill up water containers that hold 20litres I have 5. I have water butts also and would always use that water first.

Am I still allowed to fill these containers with a hose? Hi I run 2 businesses. One is window cleaning which includes cleaning conservatory roofs with a hosepipe and the other is selling preserves in the autumn which I make from some of my produce in my garden.. Can I use the hosepipe for both businesses and is it ok to use the customers hosepipes for the roofs.

I lay a lot of new lawns and as such this new turf needs to be watered regularly or it will simply dry up and die. I can water it once it has been laid, but for the following few weeks i cannot visit the customer every day for example to water their lawn. My question, can we out a fixture into out kitchen tap to then run the hose outside to water our lawn and new plants?

Suck on the end of the hosepipe careful not to get a mouthful you will get a constant flow of water from your hosepipe until the bath empties. Hi…I have collected water throughout the winter in large plastic bins and have a tap at the bottom; this was cheaper than buying a water butt. I can connect a hose to the bin tap and my jet wash has enough power to draw the water through to be effective; I have just cleaned my car that way and it works fine.

However, I have just been stopped and advised that I have broken the ban. The ban only stops the use of water from the mains. To clean a private car. We seem to pay a lot of money to have drinking quality water supplied through the mains. Water used for comsumption must be a very small percentage of that used. This would allow the use of things such as desalination plants and other sources of water without the cost? Its all a bit vague. Could you shed some light on this for me or direct me somewhere where I can find a definitive answer?

My garden I paved an I have two dogs… I need to hose to clean poo stains with my disinfectant.. Anglian water, northants area. Is there not a requirement for the water company to notify us of the hosepipe ban? I have received nothing informing me of a ban, yet I assume I am affected, but if I was to use a hose, and there was a fine issued, I have not actually been informed I am covered by this.

Is it not required from a legal standpoint? Seems there is a reliance that I will have watched the news and they will have shown a map that says I am covered by the ban…bit odd. I am confused about whether the hose pipe ban affects me or not. I heard on the local radio that Hampshire was not included — is that correct? Can I use a half metre length of hosepipe on my tap to fill the watering can, as otherwise it splashes all over and gets wasted?

I have ducks and chickens in my garden. The ducks 10 use 2 paddling pools to bath in… Can I fill using a hose? Can I jet wash or hose the mess produced by the birds away? You might need to speak to your local water company about the paddling pools as they are generally banned. Heres a good one, I see a few times making exceptions for health risks.

Could an exception be made in case of health hazard? Damn it! We are most to be the most intelligent species of animal on the planet! I use the hose pipe to fill my fish transport tanks from the tap, as this is part of my business and as water is generally desired by fish I am assuming this is not covered. I also have clients and in quires regarding water and fish welfare in drought conditions, can I assume under the animal welfare act that knowingly allowing an animal fish even wild or fish in public ownership to suffer or die because of lack of water is also an offence.

Could you please clarify or post absolute clarification with out passing the buck on what is the position for people who keep live fish in there garden ponds and water features. So yes you may use hosepipes to top up or maintain garden ponds containing fish or any other animals. This is stated on some pages on this website. We are in SW4, London. OK, commercial flower displays can be watered using a hose pipe does that mean I can use a hose pipe to water the plants that are only being grown to be displayed at a commercial flower show?

So if ur aloud to use buckets does that mean u can fill a paddling pool up with buckets? Sorry Mr Hose. Not true for Thames Water though they might have changed their policy since the 5th April — as most water companies seem to have over public pressure with one thing or another. Filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool except when using hand held containers filled directly from a tap ;.

When my Dog defecates on our decking I always use a hose to clean the surface after picking said faeces up. Is there a hosepipe ban in the UAE???

I think not….. Find your water company on our website and see what they say about irrigation systems. Some are allowed if they meet certain criteria. We do not have a post code checking facility.

No mention of grey water use. We have a pump in our grey water but to feed a hose — I presume this is OK — am I right? Likewise with stored rainwater.

After the 5th are we allowed to use a hose pipe to water the garden of a commercial premises? Thames Water area. Would you please clarify. There appears to be some confusion. We are mobile car valeting company. My question is:. Depends which water company area you are under. Seems most are now allowing total use of water from domestic premises by businesses. Thank you for the answer, I will contact Veolia — but do not hold out much hope………..

If I place a water butt near my outside tap and fill the butt from there using a bucket, then use a water butt pump to pump it out with a hose does that work….

You can use a jetwash as part of your business activities, for instance if your car is a company car. Allotments are defined as gardens and you are not allowed to use a hosepipe on them once the bans come in. Then it will be drained, surface cleaned and should then be refilled. I use my hosepipe to transport water to my back garden so that I can fill up my watering can instead of carrying it to the rear of the property as I have mobility issues but I am not disabled.

Does this count as a breach of a ban? I think I may just speak to Anglian Water if they activate the ban and put this question to them. I regularly wash my car as I never take it through car washes, I have a hosepipe running off a standpipe with a lever ball valve.

The buisiness end of the hose has a trigger operated nozzle and the hose run is 10m in length. Using this I control the water used very nicely, I can garauntee that by filling my buckets and rinsing by throwing 10L water bombs over the car I will probably use more water than before.

I wonder if I prove my point how that would stack up in court if I decided to save water by using my hosepipe to wash the car during a ban. Many people are saying the same thing and I know Auto Express have recently printed an article suggesting much more water is used when washing with buckets.

I suspect water companies measure the usage of a hosepiped car wash based on the idea the hose is left running throughout the operation, which seems a bit daft.

Not by law, no. Well someone should tell my nieghbour to stop wasteing all that water presure washer has been going for over an hour now cleaning his drive way what a waste of water. I see that a ban will come into force on 6th April. Would I be banned from using a hosepipe to water my garden by pumping water from my rainwater butt?

No you would not be banned from doing that as long as the water butt is never fed from the mains supply. Is this all just scaremongering? The hosepipe ban is perfectly legal. Laws have been around for many years that allow water companies to apply for temporary water restrictions under certain conditions. Hosepipe ban may be legal but may not be Lawful. No, there are no licences available for anything. Irrigation systems are fine though. There are no hosepipe bans anywhere in the UK at the moment and there are unlikely to be any in Same question as everyone else…is there a ban in London in particular Harrow?

I cannot find any current information for August. I wish to know the same as andy is there a hose ban in south east please or will there be one and when if known. Is there an hose pipe ban due in the south east of England? I can collect a large water butt FULL of water in 10 minutes of average rainfall from only part of my roof area. This lasts me 2 — 3 weeks of watering plants and vegetables in my garden, AND, given our normal rainfall, the butt remains full, and I have to have an overflow system in place.

I do not want to break the law but am not getting any info. Please reply. I have had a land slide all over my drive way. I have moved the earth but desparetly need to use a pipe to get rid of the sludge. Using buckets would use more water and take forever. Is the ban still on in Lancashire as the wet ground caused the slide in the first place?? Please let me know. Yours faithfully, Mrs Muddy House.

Yet the reservoirs themselves are empty. Why is it that the wettest part of England has a hosepipe ban? Our visitors from the SE are amazed by how green our vegetation is compared to their yellow baked terrain, and yet they have no ban. I heard that UU export tankers full of drinking water to France and Spain. Can anyone confirm this? If so, have they continued to do so through the hosepipe ban? The water companies could decide which day we can use a hosepipe, a 6 day ban for me is a lot fairer and a compromise.

Ive found that by using a watering can i use more water in a lot of situations than i would have done with a pressured hosepipe. Can anyone confirm if this ban is still in place in the northwest? Hi — I pity those of you affected by this who have just paid for new turf lawns!!! Now it just looks after itself. When a reservoir is at full capacity it is enough to last 5 years!!

Over the winter we had floods up and down the country so every reservoir was full. We do not live in a third world country and for 9 months of the year we get rain more often than not!!! They charge us for something that nature provides for free!!! How does that rain water get to your taps. There are no intermediary organisations involved in supplying AIR to your lungs therefore I will not be marking your words.

When does the ban begin? Does it apply to swimming pool fillings 3. Does the ban apply to Talke in Stoke-On-Trent? Hi I have a mobile valeting business in burnley lancashire. The current hosepipe ban does not prevent you from using a hose to wash or water animals or to clean things such as patio, path, etc or even for filling swimming pools, water butts or watering cans. NO commercial hosepipe uses are currently prohibited.

Hi We live in the high Peak, sk23 7ad, Are we in the ban area? Regards Paul…. Hi, I have tried to find out what i canin relation to this ban. I am involved in the running of a large fleet of trucks. Martin Padley, from UU, has said that with a hot weather forecast for the rest of July, a hosepipe ban is necessary to prevent water supplies running even lower. He said: "Despite some recent rainfall, reservoir levels are still lower than we would expect at this time of year and, with forecasters predicting a return to hot dry weather for the rest of July we will need to impose some temporary restrictions on customers.

Severn Trent water company have also issued warnings that a hosepipe ban could be imminent with the increased demand for water in recent weeks. During a ban, water usage is restricted to the essentials of cooking, drinking and washing.

The whole of Northern Ireland currently is experiencing a hosepipe ban, and as long as the hot weather continues and there is no sustained rainfall the ban will remain in place. Carlisle and the north Eden Valley have separate local supplies of water and so will not be restricted in their water usage. Severn Trent provides water to the West Midlands, and could put a hosepipe ban in place in the coming days should the hot weather and unprecedented demand.

Doug Clarke of Severn Trent said: "Demand for water is massively up thanks to several weeks of extremely hot weather. Hosepipe ban: Is London next?

What can you do to save water? Millions of people will be affected by the first hosepipe ban of the summer in England. United Utilities UU said a temporary ban affecting seven million people in the north-west of England from 5 August would "safeguard essential supplies". It said reservoir levels were already low and hot weather was forecast for the rest of July. Other water companies across England said they had adequate supplies and had no plans to impose similar bans.

Carlisle and north Eden Valley are exempt from the ban as they receive water from local sources - not the network which serves the rest of the region - and have not been as badly affected by the lack of rainfall, the firm said. Earlier this month UU, which supplies about 3.

A hosepipe ban was introduced in Northern Ireland at the end of June. People on the Isles of Scilly have also been asked to stop using hosepipes and sprinklers, and to keep "water usage to an absolute minimum".

The Council of the Isles of Scilly said St Mary's and Bryher's groundwater supply was "critically low", and without it the authority would not be able to meet the islands' demand for water. Martin Padley, from UU, said the "temporary use ban" came during what was believed to be the longest heatwave since He said: "Despite some recent rainfall, reservoir levels are still lower than we would expect at this time of year and, with forecasters predicting a return to hot dry weather for the rest of July, we will need to impose some temporary restrictions on customers.

The firm said the ban was alongside its other efforts to maintain essential supplies, including maximising water abstraction from ground water supplies; moving water around its regional integrated network of pipes; and running a campaign to encourage customers to use water wisely. Allotment owners have criticised the ban, claiming they should be excluded.

UU has told the BBC allotment owners growing produce for their own consumption are banned from using hosepipes while those who grow fruit and vegetables commercially are exempt. Andy Percival, of the Blackpool Federation of Allotments Associations, said the restrictions would have a "massive impact He said: "A lot of produce will fail or be destroyed… and there is no way of saving crops. Aimie Ellis, who has an allotment in Lawson Road, Blackpool added: "It would be a shame to see all the year's hard work ruined on account of this ban.

Janette Woodward, from Middlewich, Cheshire, said: "I don't think it is necessary for it. Although water companies in other regions of England urged customers to continue to be "water wise" in the hot weather, they said they had no plans to impose similar bans. Jim Ratcliffe, drought manager for the Environment Agency, said the ban was "a responsible measure" that will help "balance the need of people through public water supplies, whilst protecting the sensitive natural environment".

But people in the region questioned the decision on social media, asking why it was necessary and highlighting the water company's profits. Only one of these will punish customers while protecting unitedutilities profits. Guess which one is being introduced? In the news today hosepipeban. How does this work?
