When is the slowest time to go to disney world

Pick your days wisely and you will save money! Multi-day theme park tickets work differently than do single-day tickets. With multi-day tickets, the more days you purchase, the less you will pay per day.

It probably goes without saying that the cost of dining and lodging will add greatly to your overall expenses, so an extended stay — just to spend less per day on tickets — is not a money-saving strategy. If you can afford it, we would recommend going for an entire week and experiencing at least one day at each theme park. There is so much to see and do!

There are over two dozen official Disney resort hotels on the property. Disney Value Resorts are the least expensive tier, followed by Disney Moderate Resorts as the middle tier, and Disney Deluxe Resorts as the most exclusive and costly. You can also create a Disney payment plan to pay off your trip in installments. There are tons of non-Disney resort hotels in the Orlando area.

However, when you add up all of the perks offered to Disney Resort guests, we think the benefits greatly outweigh the extra cost. Stay at a Disney World Resort and be close to the action!

See our Disney World Resorts Comparison page for suggestions. For many people, the best time to go to Disney World is during the holiday season. This is the time of year when the park dazzles with decorations and there is holiday cheer in the air.

January may just be the quietest month of the year at Disney World because the holiday vacation crowds are gone and cool temperatures keep people away. The high temperatures only reach 70 degrees during January.

The pools are still heated and the cheaper off-season rates and shorter lines make it worthy of your consideration. Off-peak pricing is in effect for non-holiday weeks. But be warned that February does lack some of the beauty and excitement that other months at the park have. The weather begins to rise in March, and the water parks re-open during the first half of the month.

April is characterized by heavier crowds and milder temperatures. Spring Break and the Easter holiday are especially popular times to visit Disney World, so we would avoid these periods if possible. Temperatures rise to the mids and the flowers and trees are in full-bloom mode.

Crowds moderate during May because there are no major holidays or school vacations. Thunderstorms are common occurrences during the afternoon. The summer season kicks off during June.

While the first half of the month sees fewer crowds, the latter half experiences heavy traffic as students are off on summer break.

Single-day ticket prices increase as the crowds swell, but the parks do have extended hours and more shows and activities to even out the lines a bit. June has long days of sunshine and hot weather, so come prepared with your sunscreen. A great time of the year to visit the water parks! See our Blizzard Beach vs Typhoon Lagoon page.

Rain and thunderstorms are also common. The good news is that the theme parks have extended hours so you may want to hit the air-conditioned attractions, eat your meals, or head back to the pool during the hottest times of the day while experiencing the main attractions during the mornings and early evenings.

The Disney World weather can reach extremes during August, the hottest month of the year. You can beat the afternoon heat by seeking shelter at air-conditioned attractions and shows, restaurants, AMC movie theatre Disney Springs , and at the water parks and Disney resort pools. Crowds are heavy for most of August, but the parks do thin out a little as kids return to school towards the second half of the month.

Early September is still hot, but temperatures do moderate slightly as the month wears on. The latter half of September is one of the best times to go to Disney World because the weather is decent and lines are manageable since most kids are back to school.

September is a great time to visit Disney World! The afternoons are still hot but the evening temperatures drop considerably during the month of October.

October may be the best month to visit Disney World! But if you avoid this week and weekends around the holiday , then you will experience pleasant weather, relatively short lines, and a festive holiday atmosphere.

December is a popular time to visit Disney World because, well, most people love the holidays and most children are out on school break. In conclusion, the best time to go to Disney World will depend on your personal preferences.

If you visit Disney during November, December, January, or February, you should definitely pack a jacket or a few sweaters. It is important to note that some might prefer to hang out in the theme park in a light jacket or sweatshirt. March and April are also very temperate t-shirt weather months. Layers are always a good idea during these months. The hottest, most humid months begin with May and end with September.

And hurricane season peaks in Florida in August and September. So, while August boasts some of the lowest crowds at Disney World … it starts to become a yikes situation as far as weather. Something else to consider when planning a Disney vacation are the special events that happen throughout the parks.

A lot of the special events attract crowds, but they are still worth attending. Below we break down the list of worst to best months to visit Walt Disney World in Florida so be sure to read through the end to find out about number one! It pains me to put June last. But just…June. The end of June feels like the busiest time at Walt Disney World as far as crowds due to summer vacation starting. Welcome to peak season for Disney! I ranked July slightly higher than June simply because of the 4th of July celebrations at Disney.

Magic Kingdom offers themed fireworks for a few nights leading up to the 4th, but July is a very busy time of the year to visit Disney. However many other websites support what we have been saying that summers have turned into some what of an off season at Disney. When is off season for Disney World? Not here! Woooo, Spring Break! Fun for families who have children off from school; not so great for visitors trying to avoid crowds. April is one of the most crowded months at Disney World.

Crowds get worse in December the closer you get to the holidays. The reason this is not at 12 is I have personally have found that the beginning of the month boasts some of the lightest crowds at Disney World , specifically the first two weeks of the month. But the weeks to avoid Disney World? Crowd-wise…the holidays. When is Disney least crowded? Not March. The end of March is one of those busy times of year at Disney World. However on the bright side guests can really start to enjoy Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon again!

A lot of the owners are residents of the UK, though some Americans also own rental homes. The homeowners typically vacation in Florida for one month per year and let a property management firm rent out the home for the rest of the year. A lot of the property management companies that service vacation home rentals are also real estate agencies that are in the business of selling vacation homes. The majority of vacation homes are located in Kissimmee, a town neighboring Orlando, where you will find rows and rows of tract homes that are mostly used as rentals.

While there are significant exceptions, on the whole the Kissimmee homes tend to be cheaply furnished and a little tattered around the edges. There are some luxury homes in other areas of Orlando, which charge much higher rents. You may end up paying as much per night as you would for a luxury hotel. If you really want extra space, these may be worth looking into. Personally at that price level we would prefer the services of a fine hotel, but others feel differently.

The drives are usually more like minutes in normal traffic. You might be able to get to Disney World in 10 minutes from some of the homes in the middle of the night, if you hit all the lights.

While we are sure there are many honorable people who rent out their own homes, renting directly from the homeowners is something you must carefully research. Homeowners are usually not professional property managers and in some cases they are also not local residents. Be sure to check on whether the home is in foreclosure, which is currently a big problem in Florida.

If the association maintains a pool, you may not get access to it if the homeowner is behind on dues. We get many emails from vacation home owners and management companies who want us to promote their properties on MouseSavers.

We wish you good luck with your rental business, but we are not currently reviewing or featuring rental vacation homes on MouseSavers. Every townhome is fully furnished and includes a full kitchen, laundry room, outdoor covered patio and more.

The minimum age to check in to a hotel room at an official Universal Orlando Resort Hotel is The following MouseSavers Preferred Hotels allow ages 18 and up to check in on their own:. At check-in, most hotels will ask for a credit card to have on file for incidentals.

This is actually not a frequent question, but occasionally we do hear from someone who is really worried about staying at one of the MouseSavers Preferred Hotels because of something they read about the hotel on TripAdvisor or another online review site. We only recommend about a dozen hotels in the Orlando area, out of hundreds. Learn more about how the Preferred Hotels are selected. We visit all of the MouseSavers Preferred Hotels regularly, on both announced and unannounced visits. On average we visit them twice a year, and we stay at them on a rotating basis.

We also pay attention to the extensive feedback we receive from our readers about the hotels, which is overwhelmingly positive. We sincerely believe you can rely on our recommendations.

Of course there are also some reviews by real guests, but some of them may be completely unreasonable or have an axe to grind. Guests who were unhappy are much more likely to post reviews than those who had a good stay. So while we do look at TripAdvisor sometimes, we take the reviews with several grains of salt. At minimum, we recommend ignoring the very low and very high reviews and looking at those in the middle, as well as the overall ranking.

We wish we knew! The resort and vacation package discounts are somewhat unpredictable. Only Disney knows when or if the next ones will come out. However, you can get a general idea of the historical trends. To assist you in planning future trips for which discounts have not yet been released, check out our chart of release dates for the deepest discounts including discount codes, Annual Passholder rates and Florida resident rates.

Sometimes the discounts are restricted to certain resorts or room types. Vacation package discounts are sometimes released a little earlier, but seldom more than 6 months in advance.

Naturally, Disney only offers discounts on its resorts when it has a significant number of rooms to fill. Therefore the most popular dates and resorts are typically not discounted. When the correct rates are released, your reservation will be adjusted to reflect them.

You may choose only one discount, at least from Disney. If you book a room-only reservation through an online travel agency such as Orbitz , they may have a discount code or special of their own. You may not use the discounts in conjunction with one another. Also, you can now buy special vacation packages that include just the hotel room and dining plan, and the room portion is sometimes discounted. However, only a certain number of discounted rooms are released for each code or discount. If those are all taken when you call, you will not be able to switch to the discounted rate, even though you already have a reservation.

All packages have restrictive rules about cancellations and changes. Also, some of the package elements especially airfare and insurance are usually nonrefundable. If you booked through a travel agent , the agent must make any changes to your existing reservations.

The same general rules given above will usually apply. If you want to stay in the same room, you can request to have the two reservations linked in the system. Your package benefits will be available to you as soon as you get those new room keys, so we advise checking in first thing on the morning your package stay begins. However, if your theme park tickets are part of the package, you can pick the tickets up and use them, up to 10 days before your package begins.

Major theme parks only: this cannot be done at a water park. Note that although you can pick up your tickets early, you cannot get access to the Dining Plan or any other benefits of your package until you have actually checked in for the package stay at your resort. It still may be worth booking one of these packages if you already have tickets, since you can hang on to one set of tickets for a future trip; regular Disney World tickets are still good toward a new ticket or annual pass, even if they expire.
